Chris Rock tackled “selective outrage” in the live special of the Oscars

Semantic Outrage: a documentary about O.J. Rock’s reaction to the result of the 2016 U.S. presidential election

When Rock was a castmember on “SNL” in the 90’s, he hosted the show three times. In 2016, just after Donald Trump was elected US president, Rock made a surprise appearance in a sketch alongside the night’s host, Dave Chappelle.

This Saturday, Rock’s latest special, “Selective Outrage,” will become the first global live event to be streamed on Netflix. The trailer for the special shows Rock sitting in a dressing room and telling Chris that they are ready for him.

The two attended a election night party in the skit where a group of White people made comments about how devastated they were by the election’s results.

After that quick apparent reference to Will Smith slapping him on stage at last year’s Academy Awards, Rock saved his jokes about the incident until the last ten minutes of the show.

“Wife still mad at ya, ain’t she?” Rock joked. Why go back to Connecticut to a mean woman? ‘I may as well just stay here and do the show with no voice.’ I love you. I’m there, Dave. On the road I get sick. And if my wife is mad at me I add a few shows.”

“When you’re in a relationship, you’re in a band,” Rock said. “And when you’re in a band, you have roles that you play in the band. Sometimes you sing lead and sometimes you’re on tambourine. And if you’re on tambourine, play it right … ‘cause nobody wants to see a mad tambourine player.”

That was about fame. If O.J. wasn’t famous, he’d be in jail right now,” Rock said. “If O.J. drove a bus, he wouldn’t even be O.J. He’d be Orenthal, the Bus Driving Murderer.”

Rock said that he was getting hit by Shug Smith. “It still hurts. I got ‘Summertime’ ringing in my ears. I am not a victim, baby. You’ll never see me on Oprah or Gayle crying … I took that hit like Pacquiao.”

There is no problem with the wokeness. I have no problem with it at all. I am all for social justice. I’m in favor of people getting their rights. Rock had a problem with the outrage. “You know what i’m talking about. A person does something and gets canceled. Somebody else does the exact same thing, nothing. The kind of people who play Michael Jackson songs but aren’t interested in listening to R. Kelly. Same crime, one of them just has better songs.”

We got it worse than Ukranian. Yeah, I said it. You know why? Because Ukraine is united and America is clearly divided,” Rock joked. Half the country would want to hear from the Russians if they came here. We’re in a bad place right now.”

Do I Wanna Date a Black Holes? Anita Baker Tells Us Why TV is LOOKING TO THE PALMERS

He is trying to date women who are at least 15 years younger than him. “Don’t hate the player, hate the game. I didn’t get rich and stay in shape to talk about Anita Baker. I’m trying to f— Doja Cat.”

A pre-show event kicked off with comedian Ronny Chieng live from Los Angeles, where he told the crowd, “We could have pretaped this whole thing and nobody would have cared, but we are doing this for a noble cause: To finally try to kill off traditional TV and put it out of its misery. In fact, if you listen hard you can hear Baby Boomers canceling the last cable subscription packages.”
